Church, Is The Congregation That Important?

Part 1                Importance of the Congregation     June 13, 2009

When considering the importance of the Church of God, what seems to come into the minds of most people in determining that is what is the ministry accomplishing or what “work” is being done from a headquarters office or offices around the world.  The fact that “the church” refers to the congregation seems to be downplayed.  What does the Bible reveal to us regarding this important topic?

1 Cor 3:16-17    We are the temple of God and that the Spirit of  dwells in us

1 Cor 6:19-20    We are the temple of the living God

Heb 2:11-13      Jesus not ashamed to call us brethren, saying I will declare Your name in the assembly

Heb 3:12-13      Brethren are to exhort on another daily, so we don’t become hardened by deceitfulness of sin

Learning to love the church brethren by helping and praying for each other helps us to develop the character of God which is required to be in His Kingdom.

1 Cor 10:16-17  (YLT) The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread.
